Xuân Thủy national park (Giao Thủy district, Nam Định province) is a mangrove forest belonging to the biosphere reverse zones in the Red river delta, has been internationally recognized by the Ramsar Convention as the 50th mangrove forest of the world. National park has a plentiful avifauna with over 220 species of birds, made up more than 25% of the total bird species in the whole country, including over 150 species of migratory birds, 50 species of water birds and 9 species in the Red List at the global scale.
On 01st of June 2013, the SRV Ministry of Information and Communications issues the stampset "Birds in the Xuân Thủy national park" with 4 values of 2,000 đ, 3,500 đ, 6,500 đ, 10,500 đ and 1 block of 15,000 đ showing 5 species of water birds: Black-faced Spoonbill (Platalea minor), Asian Dowitcher (Limnodromus semipalmatus), Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata), The Grey-headed Lapwing (Vanellus cinereus) and The Spot-billed Pelican (Pelecanus philippensis).
