Major General, Professor, Academician Trần Đại Nghĩa (1913 - 1997) was born in Chánh Hiệp village, Tam Bình district, Vĩnh Long province. He was a famous person in Việt Nam and the world. He is the scientist who created weapons against invaders. One of his weapons is Bazooka, a tactical one in the anti-French resistance war. He is the founder of the Defence Industry of Việt Nam and the first scientist who was awarded the rank of Major General by President Hồ Chí Minh.
