The first cards in the world to be publically used were manufactured by SIDA (see history clicking here), a company from Montichiari (Brescia) in Italy, but the system had not a long life. In fact it was used for some years in Italy, and a trial was conducted in Venezuela in 1984, on the occasion of the Papal visit.
SIDA cards, printed by Pikappa firm, were magstripe cards and they entered the phone in vertical direction; when the cards were fully used, they were kept by the phone machine and later destroyed by personnel.
The cards, like the Urmet ones, have a corner to be detached before using, so it's easy to distinguish a mint card from an used one. Only the very first card didn't have the detachable corner.:-h
